Chef / Cook

Do you have a Can Do attitude and work great in a team? Are you experienced in food preparation and cooking in a food operation such as restaurant, cafe, function facility? Are you passionate about tasty fresh food and great service? 

We are seeking an organized, efficient and friendly Chef/Cook to head up the food preparation and presentation within our Ski School/Kids Club and Cafes in Niseko, Hirafu. You must have exceptional team and customer service skills and passion for quality food.

You will be responsible for ensuring a consistent product across the outlets, working effectively within a close knit team and providing a great service to all customers.

REPORTING TO – The Ski School Director and Cafes Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Great communication and team work
  • Menu planning and costings
  • Exceptional food handling and preparation skills
  • Running a highly organised, clean and hygienic kitchen
  • Cooking and presenting of hot meals and tasty snacks for large numbers
  • Ensuring safe food handling processes are followed
  • Ensuring high standards of product, presentation and service
  • Arranging stock supplies, product requisitions and ordering
  • Food rotation and stock taking
  • Working with Management to ensure success of the team

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/ TRAINING

  • Catering for large numbers
  • Previous Cafe/Restaurant/Catering experience
  • Face to face customer service 
  • Stock Management experience

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • English is a MUST
  • Japanese language ability is an advantage but not essential  

VISA REQUIREMENTS:

  • Foreigners MUST have or be eligible for a Working Holiday Visa 

REMUNERATION PACKAGE

Approximately 220,000-240,000 JPY per month depending on experience 

  • Personal Grand Hirafu season lift pass 
  • Free lunch/coffee on work days
  • Subsidized staff accommodation available 

EMPLOYMENT DATES

Mid November 2018 to Early April 2019

WORKING HOURS

40 Hours per week

Average of approx. 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. This kind of work is snow & customer dependent, so you will expect to work reduced hours during the first and last few weeks of the season, and experience some very busy periods and longer shifts in the peak season (mid Dec to end Feb).
