BACKCOUNTRY GUIDE – SHORT SEASON (December – February)

NBS is seeking backcountry guides for the peak dates of 2024/25 season (early December – mid February). Do you loving skiing or riding and are committed to guest experience and customer service? This is the position for you!

NBS has grown to be one of the largest international snowsports schools in the Niseko area. NBS prides itself on its outstanding reputation of high quality instruction and high level customer service. We believe the key to this success is supporting our staff in every way possible.

Key Responsibilities

·         Meeting/Greeting guests on the meeting area

·         Guiding guests around the Niseko Resort ski area and the nearby Rusutsu Resort

·         Meeting area presentation maintenance and snow clearing

·         Promoting other SkiJapan.com & NBS services

·         Providing guests with key local information & assistance

·         Being a guide and source of knowledge for guests during their stay

Preferred Experience

·         Previous experience with a snowsports school is preferred

·         Previous experience with backcountry guiding

·         Additional snowsports qualifications such as Ski or Snowboard Level 1

·         Avalanche awareness course or equivalent

·         Responsible, energetic, confident, can-do attitude

·         Clear and effective communication skills

·         Ability to provide an exceptional guest experience

·         A team player that can put others first and compromise

·         A mature, flexible approach with the ability to adapt to any situation

·         Punctual, reliable and well presented

·         Ability to take direction from supervisors

·         Ability to represent NBS to the highest standard at all times

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

l  Must be eligible for a working holiday visa or a sponsored visa

l  Must have or be able to obtain an international driving permit

 

Language Requirements

·         English is a MUST

·         Secondary Japanese/Cantonese/Mandarin language skills are preferred but not necessary

Remuneration Package

·         Hourly rate varies depending on qualifications and experience

·         Personal All Mountain Lift Pass (Grand Hirafu, Hanazono, Niseko Village & Annupuri Resorts)

·         SIM card for work and personal use (or reimbursement of 3000 JPY if you provide your own)

·         A high quality, warm and durable instructing uniform is provided for work

·         Staff Locker Room 1 minute walk to the slopes

·         Subsidised staff accommodation in Hirafu village and Kutchan

Employment Dates and Working Hours

Short Season contract dates: 2nd December, 2024 – 16th February, 2025

As with any seasonal work, hours and dates of work are snow and customer dependent.
